The Higher National Diploma Program provides highly demanded competency-based training comprises from comprehensive knowledge, development of required skills for the national and global event industry and enhancement of attitudes for career development and standard professional conduct. It is designed to cover wide scope of events from giga events such as Olympic game to other sport competitions, conferences, exhibitions & trade shows, carnivals, weddings, cultural heritage festivals, musical festivals & other entertainment events etc. The students will obtain core technical competencies in planning event project, manage event budget, event bidding & pitching, conduct briefings for respective teams, design event program, select and coordinate with suppliers, arrange food and beverage services for the event, manage event infrastructure and technical services, manage event participation, develop site plan, promote event, manage teams in events, manage quality in events and sustainable applications, manage report and records related to the event, manage equipment, tools  and materials for events, conduct research and evaluable system for continuous improvement for events, conduct event and manage and implement post-event operations. In addition to that, they will acquire key competencies for employability including manage workplace information, manage workplace communication, plan work to be performed in the workplace, solve problems & make decisions, provide leadership and facilitate work teams, facilitate establishment and maintenance of learning culture at workplace.     

The program contains from two on the training periods (internships) totally, covering nine months in the industry which provide industry exposure in the practical working environment and potential employment opportunities. Generally, majority of the students secure well paid jobs with good compensation packages within the second internship (On the job training) period or a few month after it at event management companies, professional conference organizing bodies, exhibition organizing companies, wedding planning firms, hotels and resorts, banquet venues and other private and public institutions in Sri Lanka and overseas including Middle Eastern countries such as United Arab Emirates and European countries like Germany. They will be able to pursue their higher education at some government or private universities of the island including University of Vocational Technology (Mother university of University College of Ratmalana); the only university dedicated for vocational education in Sri Lanka or higher educational institutions and universities in foreign countries with this internationally, recognized qualification.
